The center ring is a safety device that allows the collar to roll over on the dogs neck should he get it caught on a fence, limb, etc and often frees him. You can also clip a lead or leash to the center ring. These are single-ply nylon with a plastic coating that allows the collar to dry quicker and does not absorb odors as much. These collars come with a "Free" brass nameplate riveted to the collar. We recommend JUST your name and phone number. The less you put on a tag the easier it is to read. Your address does no good, no one is going to write you a letter. The best you can hope for is a phone call if someone finds your lost dog. These tags are brass and 5/8" x 2 1/2".
